Newly Appointed CEO Joshi Assumes Office, Commits to Revitalizing Tourism through Collaboration

  • Kathmandu .Deepak Raj Joshi, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Tourism Board, assumed his duties on Sunday. Speaking at a welcome program organized by the board following his appointment, CEO Joshi expressed his commitment to revitalizing the tourism sector through mutual cooperation.

    He emphasized the need for the board to work in line with its role as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model organization. “Tourism is a priority area for the state. On the other hand, the Tourism Board operates on a PPP model. The private sector also has high expectations from us. Therefore, it is crucial to move the country’s tourism forward through the cooperation of all stakeholders,” Joshi stated.

    Highlighting the priorities of his tenure, he mentioned that key focus areas would include the marketing of tourism, expansion of public relations, research, and the professional development of internal human resources. He emphasized that these goals could be achieved through teamwork. Additionally, he instructed the staff to work with a new mindset in the evolving environment, assuring them that he would operate without any preconceived notions.

    Speaking on the occasion, Senior Director Nandini Lahe Thapa expressed confidence that the experience of the newly appointed CEO would elevate the board’s performance further and extended her best wishes for a successful tenure.

    Welcoming the new CEO on behalf of the employees’ union, Board Officer Sudan Subedi expressed hopes that CEO Joshi would address the longstanding concerns related to staff development that had been stagnant for some time.

    The decision to appoint Deepak Raj Joshi as the Chief Executive Officer for a term of four years was made at the 379th meeting of the Nepal Tourism Board’s Executive Committee, held on 20 Bhadra 2081, in accordance with Section 14 of the Nepal Tourism Board Act, 2053. Notably, Joshi has previously served as the CEO of the board as well.
